Hi. Nine years ago, I got a call from my daughter in WV asking if I could take her 4 year old Netherland dwarf bunny because my granddaughter was becoming too rough with her. My husband and I drove down from WNY and picked her up. I held her on my lap the entire 8 hours.
After that, my feisty little female demon child was completely devoted to me. Honestly my husband and other daughter living nearby were a bit wary of her because she rarely allowed any interaction without honking loudly and charging full speed when they tried lol.
I took her with me to arks and on trips with her little dress harnesses. She was confident, territorial and truly completely secure in her ownership of me. Her personality was so special.
Last year, she passed away. I have other pets that are my world but she was very special to me and broke my heart. I cried an entire weekend and still keep a sadness at the huge loss.
In my area, Netherland dwarfs are not easy to find but I’d been looking an and off. My daughter sent me a Craigslist ad with a woman in Ohio having baby Netherland dwarfs available to go home in a month. She said she thought she found the reincarnation of my first baby. The expression even on a baby face and the only one to be away from the other cuddled up sweet babies looks identical to my first baby that was white with black face markings and ears.
At first I looked back at my first baby, whom I had called ‘Mianju Gui’ and teared up but my family supported my calling about this little one. I have her coming home on April 19th. The very nice owner sends videos and updates many times and shares that her personality is the spiciest like her mom out of all of them.
I was wondering if this breed typically was that possessive and territorial, if the girls typically honked and if they all were so intelligent that they seemed to interact with you while playing? I know this baby won’t be the one I lost but wondering if these were found similar in her personality.
I am very, very excited to bring her home. My last baby was entirely free roam upstairs and stayed close to my bed or room when I did my crafts. I can’t wait to meet her. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
