In desperate need of advice about litter box digging

So I've had my boy Ratchet (lionhead) and my girl River for almost 3 years now (seen in 3rd picture), and for the most part it's been a joy and a blessing.

I love them so much but there is one thing that is slowly chiping away at my sanity and that is Rivets obsession with digging in the litter box.

At first it was a rare occurrence but no matter what I do it just keeps getting worse, and it's now at a point where for months I've been cleaning these messes 2-3 times a day.

I use wood pellets for litter, and I fill the box itself with some hay, they also have a hay rack that I fill every time I see it's empty.

They have two litter boxes because they used to have pee accidents and the second litter box at least solved that issue.

They have plenty of toys that they use, a good appetite, and vet confirms they are perfectly healthy

I also cut their nails monthly and she'll dig even the day after they've been cut so I don't think it's a nails issue.

So far I have tried:

  1. Cleaning the litter box more often, to the point that I now change everything daily (which I would be fine with if it solved the issue but she digs anyway)

  2. Making them a dig box (seen in the third picture), which they occasionally use, but Rivet still prefers to dig in the dig box

  3. Changing places between the dig box and the litter boxes, this seemed to have helped for like a week, and then she went back to digging in the litter box.

  4. Getting rid of the hay rack, which I thought might be annoying her or somehow promoting digging behaviour

  5. Stopping her when I see her do it, but she just waits until I go to sleep or go to work and then prepares a surprise for me.

I'm pretty much out of ideas but I have to solve this because I can't live my life constantly cleaning up these messes, I genuinely dread getting out of bed atp because I know the mess that is waiting for me.

Does anyone have any advice on what else I can do?
