Hi! I just got my first ever bun, Benji, from a mutual friend who was giving him away. When I arrived to collect him, I noticed red flags. Firstly, she was using dirty rainwater to fill the buns’ water bottles. Secondly, she told me to just put Benji in with my guinea pigs which I knew, as someone who never had a rabbit, should never happen. Secondly, all her rabbits were crammed together in three tall, but not long, hutches in her garden. She also dragged Benji out from underneath said hutch to give him to me, and dropped another rabbit on his head when showing it to us. So, basically, I came to the conclusionThis all ties in to my main question: is it normal for Benji to stink out the whole room he’s in? He really, really smells. I’m wondering it’s his last environment. However, he’s not neutered and was used for breeding by his last owner. I am working on getting him neutered and then getting him a friend in a few months. Any help and advice regarding the smell, and any other topics, would be much appreciated. I didn’t know bunnies smelled this bad and would love for him to be an indoor rabbit but am concerned about the smell and that Benji wasn’t from the best environment. I am taking him for a checkup at the vets today. Please note Benji has a whole room of free roam in my apartment.
