Tough day. Last week her bloodwork was absolutely perfect. Last night she had strange breathing. This morning we took her to the emergency room at 8:36am and she took her last breath at 11:57am. She had a large tumor in her lungs and it was just going to keep growing if we didn’t have it removed and we had to leave the country at 3:20pm for a pre planned vacation. Nyx would’ve been 11 on the 16th.

She was beautiful and, clearly, very loved and happy. That is a rough thing to go through right before a vacation. We lost one of our buns last year. He was a void bunny just like Nix. It was so hard and, sometimes still is.
I just remind myself that we promised to take care of him knowing it would sometimes be hard. Knowing that one day it may feel like our hearts are broken.
But remembering how happy he was. He had a damn good life. Love, pets, endless hay, salads and snacks, cardboard fortresses to explore, soft blankets, puzzles stuffed with treats, zoomies and binkies, flops and naps. It was a good life. He deserved every second of it and we made sure he got it.
I think that maybe him and Nix are hanging out right now. Along with a lot of other friends.

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl and she was clearly loved and had a good life with you. <3 I went through something extremely similar in september. We lost our own baby girl 5 days before she would have turned 11, and very shortly before our vacation to Iceland which was such an emotionally conflicting time. I know it hurts a lot at the moment, but I hope you can find peace and healing and enjoy your vacation despite everything. You deserve it!
