A few years ago, my sister got two rabbits. She’s taken incredible care of them, and they live free roam in her room (we have other pets, so we have to section off spaces for different animals 😅 our house isn’t super big). I really appreciate the work she’s put into raising them and making sure they’re well cared for and well fed. The only sub-optimal factor is that we have a very loud brother who lives in the room next to hers. We’re all adults/near adults, but he just tends to air on the louder side. Sometimes I get worried it scares the buns.
The problem I want to address is that these two wonderful rabbits are incredibly antisocial. They’re often very skittish, and while they’ll run to the sound of the treat bag, if you reach to pet them they then run away again. They flop, loaf, and do everything that would indicate that they’re happy (I love when they binky, brings joy to my day 🥹) but they don’t seem to like attention. If you reach forward very gently an start petting them they seem to realize that there’s no danger, but petting is all they’ll tolerate. You can’t pick them up or play with them beyond that.
I’m not sure what other information I can give so feel free to ask questions in the comments and I’ll respond to the best of my ability. I’m just worried that the behavior of my sister’s bunnies isn’t normal, and somehow we went wrong in raising them.
