bonding = sleeping on the couch…

(please ignore the chaos in the pics I was cleaning ..)

My rabbit’s partner passed away a few months ago (I miss my buddy), and so i’ve since acquired a rescue rabbit – they said she was left in a park. They named her after the park, but i’ve changed her name because it felt so mean. She’s nova 🙂

Cloud is my boy, and god he’s such an ass. I love him, and he’s absolutely adorable and HAS groomed Nova. Multiple times. They’ve groomed each other. I’ve switched pens over and over, cleaned their room, annnd…nope. It’s not even the typical ‘bad aggressive bond’ – they’ve never tornadoed thankfully. Cloud just bites her butt fur.

They’ve been to the vet together & cuddled there. They live side by side 24/7 and I let them roam together under my watch. It goes well, until she approaches him and he decides that’s not ok. Bites her fur, she runs. Obviously I make sure she’s ok and tell cloud no.

I have a puppy, so there’s not really a chance for neutral ground longer than a few hours. Though they’ve been sharing EVERYTHING for so long now. They even eat hay together, it’s like something in Cloud just..snaps. As I type, the fence is down and they’re both just chilling away from each other, unbothered.

I’ve slept on the couch for 2 nights now, with them in the pen downstairs, and that goes fine, honestly. There’s some stalemate here and I can’t figure it out – do I just let them roam in the room until Cloud gets over it? he’s established he’s the dominant one. I don’t want her hurt, though. Anyway, here was the set up for couch, then different bonding sessions. I have severe ADHD please ignore whatever weird items you see 🙃 i promise they don’t live with my rabbits i’m just distracted.

both fixed, Cloud is a year and a few months and the rescue think Nova is 2. They had a vet check up a few days ago, Cloud is healthy and Nova does need some dental work, which will be scheduled soon. Cloud is..i think he’s a white new zealand? not sure. Nova is a netherlands dwarf.
