Thanks in advance- so for context I have three buns and they all got spayed last week. Two of them are doing great in terms of recovery but I unfortunately had to separate them from the other cause they started being territorial. I was naively hopeful that their baby bond would stick 🥲 (although it does seem like it has for the two that were being mean? They basically sleep on top of eachother, although they were actual littermates so I don’t know if that matters). Anywho, my girl Sweet Roll that I had to separate started eating and drinking a lot less, which I assumed was happening because she was sad that they were separated. Then I yesterday morning I noticed that her pellets hadn’t gone down at all overnight, so I called the vet and was able to bring her in that afternoon. She ended up having some diarrhea on the car ride over which I guess is good cause I was worried about stasis. But she’s lost almost half a pound in the time since her surgery, she was 2.4 pounds yesterday she wasn’t even 2.1. Vet said she seems to be doing fine in basically everything else, good gut sounds and everything so she sent me back with critical care to get some weight back on her. The thing is though she doesn’t want to eat it from a plate or bowl so I’ve tried syringe feeding her but she also kinda hates it. I can burrito her but it’s also just really hard to get the syringe in her mouth cause she has chubby cheeks and she won’t just lick it up from the syringe. I’ve gotten a lot on her chin and stuff and I just feel bad and want to make sure she’s getting the nutrition she needs.
TL;DR bun needs critical care, won’t eat it herself and I’m bad at syringe feeding. Help!
