One night she comes up to me making noises and lies next to me bed. She might have just been upset that I wouldn't let her explore this other room in the house she escaped into earlier that day but I was nervous and did a teeth check and noticed she was missing one of her front teeth. I was a bit panicked because I did some research and that could mean dental disease. Her gums looked fine though so I took comfort in that. She'd also had a little bit of goop in her eye so that again made me nervous. She has had some sores on the bottom of her feet which might have come from her being confined to the kitchen; once I learned that this could be the cause i ordered some foam mats for her pen and have been letting her onto the carpet (I was nervous about this since I'm moving from this house soon) and she chooses not to pee on the carpet for some reason which I'm grateful for because I would have had to find a different solution otherwise. I had already scheduled the spay so I called the vet to let them know what was going on and that this may be more of a checkup than a spay. She was acting fine other than those things but I was still nervous. Thankfully, the vet said that sometimes they break a tooth somehow and that her gums looked super healthy so it was most likely that she accidentally broke it somehow with chewing on something too hard or something happened while she was playing to break it. He also said the eye could be explained by her getting some dust in it and the tear duct being clogged. He gave me some antibiotics and eye meds and said that in about two weeks if she's healthy we can do the spay. Since then she's been acting more energetic and her eye has gotten so much better, I've been putting the solution in and then wiping her eye with some cotton balls to ensure that she doesn't ingest any of the medication and she actually loves this, she'll just relax and let me wipe her eye for 15 minutes. Most of the crusty fur around her eye is gone now and I expect it to disappear completely within the week. The sores are getting smaller and more covered by her fur each day as well. That's just about it in case anyone cares, I don't mean to make people read these updates who don't feel like it but there it is in case you do. On another note, I can't tell if she's ignoring her hay or if she'll only eat it when I'm gone at work because she is expecting other food from me like treats or vegetables. I got some fresh hay in case she didn't want the old stuff and she didn't go after it like usual. Today I mashed up some pellets and tore up the hay, added some water and made a mixture and she's eating that. The hay isn't too ground up so that she still has to chew it but she'll probably need her teeth trimmed to keep them all lined up once her tooth grows back in anyway. No idea her age. Still thinking of a name because I am super picky. I might go with something Russian sounding because it suits her for some reason.
