Hello. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what could’ve caused my 2 year old bunny’s sudden passing. I only had him for two months and was a new bunny owner but I did so much research on almost everything there was to know about them. He was fine during the day energetic and sassy like usual and his eating and drinking normal but around 3am yesterday I heard a sound and went to check on him and noticed he couldn’t stand without falling over and was very still. I noticed that the poop in his cage was dark and moist and thought it could’ve been GI stasis gone too far. He started convulsing around 4am and his breathing was labored. Because it was so late the exotic vet wasn’t in so I just stayed by his side and did some googling on how to make him comfortable and by the time I had woken up in the morning he was gone. I’m just hoping that what happened wasn’t my fault for being a bad first time owner or if Holland lops have issues like this on a regular. I’ve literally been so depressed about this all day people keep telling me to just get a new one but it won’t be the same yknow and I don’t want to experience anything like this again so if it was my fault I would at least want to know what I did wrong for some closure. Sorry for the long post. I’ll put some photos of my bunny, Hero when he was alive at the end. He loved sitting next to me while I did my homework, never chewed anything unless it was food, and was very curious. He always greeted me when I walked in my bedroom after a long day of classes and I just felt so lucky to have him because he helped with the transition to my first year of college and my dogs passing. Sorry again for the long post and thank you
