We have 2 sweet bunnies, Willow (female age 8) and Hoppenheimer (male age 10). Both are neutered/spayed and have been bonded for several years. They have a large pen with 2 litter boxes and plenty of space, plus they have access to our living room for roaming and treats most of the day if they chose. We have had them in 2 different homes and used never had a big problem with their litter training or marking behavior. When we moved 4 years ago Hoppenheimer did get a little territorial in the living room but nothing we couldn't handle and this died down as they settled into the space. About 2 years ago Hoppenheimer started chasing Willow around and getting more aggressive and frisky. This escalated over time and got to the point where he started spraying urine up our walls and was running her around most of the day. After we requested it the Vet sent off blood work for hormone levels and his are through the roof. So, they gave him an adrenal implant often used in ferrets. This helped tremendously, but he never full stopped the humping and urination. ALSO due to his marking our female has also decided she doesn't want to use the litter sometimes. He has gotten the implant 2x now, we are getting his 3rd this week, and we are still on constant alert. I make sure to keep scented items in/by the litter boxes, but we do clean up once a day.
If anyone has suggestions please let me know. We have to move later this year and I am worried about damages in a rental home (we currently own and will have to repair areas when we go). I love them and also …. I'm so tired of cleaning this daily. See pic. Thank you.
