but i have questions. I stumbled upon her on a local group, rehoming to a pet only home. Her owner had bought her as a baby, intending to breed her. Shes a pedigree holland lop, 1 year and 7 months old, and they were doing an inspection before starting to breed her, and realized she has a small umbilical hernia, assumably from the mom cutting too close at birth, so they won't breed her. She currently is on the pellets shown, unlimited access to the oren Reynolds one, as her owner is allergic to Timothy hay. then they are supplementing a bowl (unsure of amount) of the other one because she is slightly under weight and they've had "issues" with her in the past, before they settled on this brand of food this fall.
she will be coming home with us on sunday, with some of her pellets that she has been eating. I plan to give her Timothy hay, and the pellets shes used to, and allow her to pick and get used to having the hay for a week? does this seem okay? I'll watch her poops and what not during the introduction. then id like to get her used to having fresh greens daily as well, not just as treats, so ultimately she is getting the same diet as our other bunny.
our other bunny on the other hand.. we adopted her a couple months ago and she came with a tote of pellets, unlabeled, and the lady couldn't tell me much about them besides "rabbit pellets". we're nearly out of those as well.. so I need to get a new bag of food anyways, but it'll be a hassle for me to get the bag of food that the new bunny is on 🤦🏼♀️
what should I do pellets wise? go to the trouble of getting the special pellets that the new bunny is on? or transition both of the bunnies to a easier to get pellet? I wonder if some of the new bunnies "issues" they went through would be solved with the addition of hay?
