Just thought I might try and get some other opinions regarding our Mini Lop – Violet (5 Years Old) who has had two ear infections 3 months apart.
Treatment was initially antibiotics which definitely cleared it up the first time but it then came back again 3 months later. Which we then again treated with antibiotics and cleared up again.
The vets suggested an ear opening surgery, but man it's $1600 AUD for CT Scan to check the condition of the ears and infection and then $3000 for the surgery for both ears unless they need to be done separately, which then means $3000 each.
I'm pretty torn on this decision… It's extremely expensive surgery, or we can treat with antibiotics as symptoms begin. Also to spend so much for them to maybe not survive the surgery or then pass away from some other cause… I don't know. Apart from that she's pretty happy and fine and running about.
Also these vets are rabbit specialists.
Has anyone else had to deal with this?
