Fungal infection

My bunny seems to have a fungal infection on its claw (we went to the vet to confirm), I’m just afraid this will spread to his other claws and be life threatening. The vet did say it isn’t but I just want to know if other people have gone through something similar with their bunnies.

They advised us to wear gloves around him and sanitise ourselves too since it can spread to humans. So far it has appeared on the claw in the picture and it has begun to form on one of the claws in his hind legs.

Did the vet determine which type of fungus it is, and did you receive any medication to treat it?

If you get medication for it make sure you follow the instructions to apply for the amount of days prescribed. Fungal infections can become resistant to medication if you stop treatment too early. Fungal infections on people (like under toenails) can take months of treatment. So don’t try to throw random anti fungal medication on it and expect one of them to work, you may just make it harder and harder to treat.
