How to help with a wet face?

My 8 year old lop had a gnarly ear infection last summer which left him with some nerve damage/facial paralysis. It’s gotten a lot better and the offending ear has been cleared by the vet, but he still has a bit of a permanent smirk. Because of this when he drinks water some of it spills out of the side of his mouth and soaks the fur around his chin and mouth (then he sticks his face in his hay and it gets all green and gunky). He used to be pretty good at cleaning himself off, but he’s definitely slowed down in recent years so a lot of the time he’s spending most of the day with a wet face. He’s unbothered by it, but it can’t be good for the skin underneath. I’ve tried taking a rag to it but it doesn’t really seem to help. Once it dries a little I can break it up and prevent it from matting, but with how much water he drinks it doesn’t always have time to dry.

Any ideas on how to help keep him clean/dry?
