    Hello everyone

Would appreciate it so much if you could upvote our post for visibility to help us out

We live four hours outside of Melbourne, Australia, and we’re looking for a new home for our absolutely perfect bunnies Lola and Duke by the 15th of February

We are moving overseas in March and we’re deeply, incredibly sad that we aren’t able to bring them with us, but we know in our hearts that they will be able to bring a new family the joy that they have brought us.

Lola and Duke are de-sexed mini lops, Lola is a female REW and Duke is the male sable point (we think that’s his colouring, at least).

They are vaccinated regularly and will have their latest vaccinations before re-homing.

    They are strictly indoor bunnies.

Coming with them will be their pen (roughly three meters in length) that they sleep in during the day, with their Hol and litter boxes and lots of spares. They also have their favourite blankets, rabbit tunnel donut, water bowls, hay bag, pet carriers, nail clippers, critical care and syringe and basically just everything you would need (oh and hay and pellets to get you started so that you know the brands if you wanted to get the same ones or to transition)

    Personalities –

They are full of personality. They adore each other and will cuddle up all the time and sleep touching each other. They like their pellets in the morning (a palm full) and fresh greens in the evening (mostly carrot tops, but also parsley/spinach/mint/celery leaves/small amount of kale etc).

Lola will accept being picked up and a big cuddle in the morning before pellets. You can pick Duke up for a cuddle anytime, but Lola definitely prefers her own time in the evenings, haha.

Lola does have a tendency to chew, and we manage this with apple branches, thick carrot top stems, and cardboard with no ink/sticky tape. She will try to dig a little bit so we’re not sure how she will go with carpet. Ideally you would have floorboards or tiles and put down rugs, blankets, mats like we do (or if you’re okay with your carpet being potentially chewed)

Duke doesn’t really chew, accept for occasionally cardboard, but he does love apple branches.

Lola is sensitive to other animals, young children, loud noises and heavy cooking smells, she’ll just hide in the Hol until she feels comfortable coming out. Duke is incredibly chill and nothing bothers him much.

We think they would be best suited to a home that doesn’t have dogs or cats, and older children (10 years and above, potentially) just as Lola is a bit skittish.

We are asking for a rehoming fee of $299 and we may potentially be able to drive them quite a distance to the right home.

My DMs are open so please message me if I can answer any questions 🙂

    Thanks all 🤍

  2. Also reach out to the Rabbit Sanctuary as they will take surrenders. You may have to pay but it means they will be with people who meet a standard (have all equipment and food organised) and also means if they can’t care for them, they go back to the Sanctuary no questions asked, they will always be loved

I’m from the US, but i just have to pop in and say how sorry I am for you. It is extremely obvious how much you love and care for your bunnies and would take them with you if at all possible. I know how strict the laws in Australia and New Zealand are for rabbits (and other animals) due to the crazy amounts of invasive species that have been introduced over the years. I honestly thought about moving to these countries once upon a time, but these laws stopped me because I couldn’t leave my 5 babies behind.

I’m so sorry to read that you have to part from them. (I’m on the working continent though. So only commenting for engagement and hoping more people see your post)

Please please go through a rescue. Your beautiful bunnies need the right checks to be made to ensure they are not used for horrible purposes – people will say anything on social media and I’ve heard some terrible stories. Rehoming via a rescue is the best way for your sweet babies!

    I have a conspiracy theory.

Bunnies were made by people. They’re just too darn cute for nature. 😍

Please reach out to Rabbit Run Away orphanage in Melbourne – Judi maybe able to help.

  8. Whole-Carob7407

Hope they find a new loving home soon!

Also just commenting to boost – they’re beautiful!

Wishing you the best of luck and if you get stuck you can reach out. Won’t lie to you, Rabbit rescue is extremely quiet, we have young babies not getting applications. We are also a melbourne-based rescue. But we do help with surrenders if nothing comes through.

Hey! Im so sorry you couldn’t bring them, that’s heartbreaking. I’m in TAS, Australia and if you reallly need to there is Bunnies of the Burrow who can do interstate if needed, or at least know people well.

I’m italian but I think you don’t have problems! They are SO cut

I also will recommend Kelly’s Rabbit Sanctuary.  They’re one of the best and most caring rescue we’ve encountered in the last few years and we’ve adopted some of our bunnies from them.

My first bun was a lop and losing him was the most painful thing ever. He was so loving and sweet. I sincerely wish you could take them with you😞

Hi! I’m just popping in to say how much my heart hurts for you. They are so very loved and I know you’ll find the perfect match for them to continue the excellent care they’ve enjoyed with you. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. The right person is out there and will keep treating them like the exquisite creatures they are. Thank you for caring for them like gold and keep being strong, you’re amazing. 💕 Good luck.
