Our pet bunny Vanilla peed red. We looked it up online and it says its often harmless and that it should clear up after a few days. What do you guys say. Have you ever dealt with something like this ??
Should we go to the vet?
Its 11pm at night so it would have to be tomorrow.

I freaked out about this too. My vet said it was fine. Rabbits are just weird.
But if you’re concerned maybe see about emailing this picture to your vet and calling.
That looks pretty bright red to me. Is there any blood on Vanilla’s bottom? Did you feed anything red in color like beets?
If it is blood, that bright of red means fresh, active bleeding somewhere, and it’s definitely a straight to an exotic ER vet.
Reddish, red pee from rabbits happens, but this is a brighter red than I’ve seen before.
Email this picture to the vet.
Someone ate banana peels…
My buns sometimes pee a reddish/orange color that catches me off guard but this is an odd color that I’ve never seen before. It’s better to be safe than sorry so I recommend getting him checked out
If you have hydrogen peroxide look up how to use it to test for blood. I think you add a few drops and if it bubbles there is likely blood in there.
My rabbits have peed dark before but nothing like this. That just looks like straight up blood imo
Not to scare you but my bun started having blood in her pee & ended up having uterine cancer. I would get your bun checked out just in case there is an underlying cause. It’s better to know than to not…I hope everything is okay though & it happens to not be an issue🫶
I’ve seen so much red and orange rabbit pee but never this bright. I really think a vet visit would be good just to be safe. Your rabbit hasn’t eaten anything unusual over the last day or so, maybe a bunch of raspberries or something?
This is red beyond normal urine and contains blood. Vet time. You can see how it is sticking to itself and not viscous enough to be pee alone. That speck on the very end of the pee trail is a bead.
not to spook but here is a visual of confirmed blood from a rabbit (my rabbit) with uterine cancer. please see a vet. if your rabbit is over three and intact, plan for surgery. best of luck

UPDATE: We visited the vet today. Turns out it was blood. We did blood exams and ultrasound and saw the following things:
The blood came from her bladder. We are unsure of the cause and we are pretty sure it is not actively bleeding.
The vet said it can be caused by high pH in urine burning out the bladder, which is usually caused by a bad diet; or trauma. We think it was trauma since a week ago she forcedly crawled under a very tight space between a sofa and the floor. The vet said something like that could possibly be the cause.
She has not been neutered and we found out about a case cystic endometrial hyperplasia in her uterus. This right now is not causing any trouble but in a few months it could cause some issues.
Whatre we gonna do now?
She were prescribed some antibiotics to help control any possible and probable infections in the bladder and some other medicines.
The goal for the following month is for her to get better and a month later for her to be neutered to prevent the hyperplasia to get worse.
She has actually been behaving very well and playful and she is not in any critical or dangerous condition. But we do have to keep an eye on her and medicate her during the following month.
We have another vet appointment for Friday to check how things progress. Also the color of her pee should clear out in the next few days.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and concern.
We will take good care of our Vanilla. <3
