My rabbit is a bit weird … 🙂 Pretty much the only time he doesn’t poop is while he’s eating, and he prefers to have his hay separate from the litter box. You can check my post history for more info on that.
As you can see from the photo, he has a hay feeder and a big pink box underneath it so the hay doesn’t end up all over the place. When he uses the hay feeder, he pulls out quite a lot of hay. Then he sometimes continues to eat from the hay feeder, but sometimes he eats directly from the box.
How often should I completely remove (throw away) all the hay from the pink box? He doesn't pee or poop on it, but he sometimes stands on it (while eating from the hay feeder). When I add new hay, I always add it to the hay feeder. Every evening I add fresh hay, because he eats more if there's fresh hay available.
