The rabbit vet decided to do a small aspiration to help determine if the mass on Olive’s abdomen is an abscess. Unfortunately the sample was mostly blood, not much puss and didn’t want to drain well, so she is thinking it is mammary cancer. We are going to do a recheck in two weeks once we get the swelling down with a course of meloxicam and likely do some cytology so we can find out what we’re up against here.
The vet has offered to RX the meloxicam (and maybe other things) lifelong depending on the diagnosis. This mass got so big in the last month and she’s simply too old to operate on. I’m cherishing every single second with her. Has anyone here had a decent amount of time with their rabbit after discovering cancer?
She’s being herself still. Eating, drinking, playing. I just picked up some way shorter litter box trays to cut out any unnecessary jumping for her. I love my girl! 🥺 it’s nice to have a community of people who understand how special these guys are…
