Hi rabbit reddit! I have a 8 year old dwarf holland lop named Eevee. I've had him for all 8 years of his life and he has always used the litter box with occasional accident here and there but nothing crazy. These last two/three weeks tho he has been pooping like a manic all over the house and his pen and im honestly lost for ideas for the most part.
I've tried moving his litter box, giving him multiple, getting him shorter walled ones. The thing is he still uses the litter box for eating and drinking and he'll do his business but he just also doesn't use it at the same time. Its like there's a constant flow of poop where ever he is. His stool looks completely normal just constant.
There's a few things I think i maybe could be,
– One, he's old and old people can control their bowels very well but its just a rather sudden change
– Two, I did technically change his hay I guess, its the same brand of timothy Kaytee, but I got the wafer cut instead of the normal stuff because he tend to like 1st and 2nds more and thought he'd like it more. I'm planning on switching him back either tomorrow or the next day but it just seems odd that a thinner cut would cause that right???
– Three, we did just move to a new apartment 4 months ago and maybe its a territory thing. He's also fenced off from the kitchen which absolutely drives him mad, maybe his angry about not being allowed in the kitchen. We also did get quite the upgrade in this new place so he has a crazy amount of space to move around and explore, maybe its making him more territorial. But we've been in this new place a while and this is all pretty sudden poop mania.
A couple things to know, he is neutered and his last checkup was maybe three months ago and the vet says he looks get for his age. Haven't changed anything other than the hay/litter boxes, same food, water dish, pen etc. He's acting totally normal still causing chaos and demanding treats. And he still pees in the litter just fine its only to poo that's an issue.
I'm just kinda at a loss and the internet isn't being much of a help ive tried all the standard recommendations so I'd love to have some other opinions and some suggestions. Thank you!
