Like many of you, I had rabbits growing up that did not receive proper care. They were kept alone in one of the standard rabbit cages with minimal free roam time with a pellet only diet.
I have two bonded girls now that I give an entire room with proper food.
Anywho, I was feeling bad about how my childhood rabbits were treated and was talking to my mom about it, and she reminded me of some things:
– She would get home from her graveyard shift, open the rabbit cage, and let the rabbit just hop around for an hour while she watched.
– My dad would give the rabbit an entire carrot every morning when he went to work
– I still loved those bunnies
I wish those rabbits could have received better care, but we really didn’t know better at the time. I really loved them.
I try to spoil my girls as much as possible now to make up for it.
Included are some pictures of my bunnies over the years 🙂
