I was a man with rabbits once

I was a man with rabbits once,
Two souls of fur and gentle grace.
They filled my world with sound and light,
And left their love in every space.

Their noise would mark the passing hours,
Their soft eyes watched me through the days.
Marigolds and morning showers,
Banana time and playful ways.

Spirit’s calm and Sienna’s spark,
Two hearts that beat as one with mine.
They taught me joy, they healed the dark,
And made the simple moments shine.

The rooms are still, the house has changed,
But something sacred lingers here.
A warmth that time cannot estrange,
A love that never disappears.

I was a man with rabbits once,
And in that truth I’ll always be.
For though they’ve gone beyond my touch,
They live forever here in me.
