My little guy is a little over 3. He is a Netherland Dwarf and full of life. My sister was holding him for me for a few months (she got him when he was 2mo old. July 2022) until I could come get him (in a different state). While he was in her care she did quick internet research and came to the conclusion no contact was the best course of action for baby bunnies. She still took great care of him and spent a lot of time with him on the floor and everything. She just avoided touching or holding him.
At first it was just him and I and he did seem a little cold at first, but he warmed up. He is free roaming too. He would let me slowly approach and give him pets. He would run circles around me when I came home or when I woke up. He eats all his hay, pellets, veggies and treats! And once I met my husband he took a great liking to him. He circles him too and loves to flop at his feet while we’re on the couch.
But to not make this too lengthy, he seems happy doing binkis, flopping around, and even spontaneously jumping on the couch. But that’s where I worry. He will jump on the couch and if we reach out to touch him, he runs. We pick him up and sit on the couch and he will squirm for HIS LIFE to get away and jump off …and then jump back up on the couch in our lap literally 30 seconds later. Any time I come near him 8/10 times he runs away. And he even will lunge at me periodically or try to bite me. I feel bad cause I want to be one of those people that spend time with their buns cuddling or carrying them around, having them hop all over their beds.
Is he actually unhappy? Does he not like us? I just want to spend time with him. 🥺…also he isn’t neutered 😭 sooo idk
