Looking for advice on my rabbits’ daily veggies 🥕

Hi everyone!
I’d love some advice on the daily vegetables I’m feeding my rabbits.

I have two lionhead rabbits, one is almost 8 months old and the other is almost 7 months old. I just want to make sure I’m giving them a healthy, balanced variety of greens each day.

I’ll add a photo of what they usually get any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 💚

Thank you in advance!

Variety is super important so small different things every day. You don’t want massive quantities of anything so as to not overload them with certain minerals or vitamins which can cause gi issues.

What lettuce is that? You want the darker leaves of romaine, little gem, sweet gem, butterhead… the darker leaves rule applies to practically everything. The paler the leaves the less beneficial. Definitely avoid iceberg and bagged salad or bagged leaves.

Some people disagree with celery as the fibres can cause a choking hazard, I only give an inch or so to each bunny every so often and it’s in much smaller pieces that can’t choke anyone just in case.

Herbs like dill and basil are good as well as the parsley you’re already offering. Some like mint, chives, the jazzier herbs but that’s preference.

Cavaro Nero kale is very popular with buns but in small quantities, same with spinach and pak Choi – they’re delicious but high in calcium and can cause urinary issues in high quantities.

Carrot tops (green bits), watercress, pea shoots, rocket… all good just preference as not all rabbits like everything. Mine hate rocket and anything too peppery.

Forage is also really good if you can find it locally; dandelion leaves, sow/milk thistle, plantain, apple leaves… they’re all good fresh or dried.

Some people add slices of bell peppers, I like to include a strand each of carrot spaghetti (thin strips of carrot from a peeler).

I have an 8yo mini rex with digestive issues…no pellets. She gets a whole celery stalk, parsley, romaine, and broccoli twice a day, along with all the hay she wants. She loves the broccoli and parsley.
