Hi everyone,
My wife and I have a female bunny who used to be super affectionate, she’d jump on our bed, loved attention, and spent lots of time with us.
We read online that unspayed female rabbits can suffer from hormonal stress and have a high risk of uterine cancer, so we decided to have her spayed on July 31st. The surgery went well, but since then she’s been distant. She no longer jumps on the bed, and after a few minutes of petting she runs to hide. Most of the time she stays on her own.
She always hates leaving the house, every vet visit is really stressful, and we have to take apart part of the room to catch her. We don’t have another rabbit since we rent, and she love chewing her toys, parts of the walls and door frames, so two would be difficult.
She eats and sleeps fine, but is disconnected from us. Has anyone else had this happen after spaying? How did you rebuild trust with your bunny?
