We have a very gentle, loving dog who also loves to do loud, alert barking whenever someone comes over or he hears people out on the street. He usually does all the barking from the living room because that’s closest to our front door. I was also hoping to set a pen for our bunny in the living room too because that’s where we spend the most time as a family. Is that a stupid mistake? Should we try and put bunny upstairs far away from the noise (but then also far away from us most of the time)? Picture of our very excited kiddo 😊

Generally bunnies and dogs do not mix well, especially if the dog in question has a high prey drive. Constant barking will likely stress the rabbit out so yes, I would advise keeping the two of them as separated as possible.
Please reference the “[relationships with dogs](https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Relationships_with_rabbits#Dogs)” guide on the wiki before bringing the bunny home. If you don’t think you can take all of the safety precautions necessary, then I’d highly suggest rethinking bringing a rabbit into your life – I’m not trying to be harsh but they are such fragile and sensitive creatures and don’t deserve to live in constant fear.
My rabbits do not care about my dogs’ barking.
Is the bunny going to be your pet or your kid’s pet?
