Just got back from his check-up at the vet and overall he is surprisingly healthy for a 12 yo rabbit! He got prescribed Tobramycin Opthalmic Solution for his leaky eyes and TrizUltra+Keto for his itchy ears. Good teeth health. They said with diet improvements his skin and hair health should get better as well, it's a bit on the dry side. I asked about arthritis and his range of motion is good! He does tend to scoot around inside the house but when taken outside he hops more energetically. They shaved his face because his fur was so matted around the eyes from all the tears leaking so he looks a bit goofy now.
The pellet food he came with (dumor classic diet) is alfalfa based so the vet said I should switch to something else. I would love to hear what you feed your senior rabbits! Is Oxbow essentials a good choice? He is a bit on the thin side and weighs a whopping 3.1lbs. He is a small guy and the vet said he's just a little bit thin, not too bad. He's been eating wild meadow hay and cilantro, parsley, and baby romaine for greens. He has a pretty good appetite and has been cleaning out the hay rack and greens bowls but leaving some pellets. Is giving him as many greens as he can eat ok?
His pen should arrive in the mail today so I can get him set up with a bigger space and a proper litter setup instead of the tiny cage he's been in.
