Bunny

bunnies are acting off? PLEASE READ

i want to start by saying i’ve had these guys for almost a decade. i know them as well as i know myself. they’ve lived in the same place for all their lives. they have access to hay all day inside the hutch and i go out 1-2 times a day to give them greens. i give them bunny nuggets before bed. at night they are locked in the hutch (though they are safe in their home, we have neighbours with cats and i’d rather be safe than sorry).
usually when i go to give them their nuggets, they run into the hutch to the bowl because they’re excited, but last night they just stayed outside. i put the food in their bowl and they didn’t budge. i waited for a while and they didn’t come in so i moved the bowl and a bunch of hay to the outside area where they were. they started eating then. this morning i checked on them and they were still outside. it didn’t look like they’d been in the hutch at all.
i’m confused, and concerned. they are old now, and i wonder if that has a part in whatever they’re doing? i have seen one of them go in the hutch for a wee and then shoot back into the outside again.
what on earth are they doing? please help
