Is my bun trying to play with my pup?

They used to freeroam a little together when my pup was smaller. Even shared watermelon at some point if you look through my past posts. I’ve never had the nerve to let them freeroam together since he tripled in size (nor will I anytime soon). Throughout the week my bun will freeroam in my office with a baby gate at the door since I WFH. My pup always brings toys up to the gate. On weekends I have the two of them take turns in the main area of my house, sometimes I’ll have him freeroam while my pup is on a harness, and he’ll often come up to touch snoots with him. 90% of the time my pup ignores him, but before I started filming he brought all of his toys and put them around my buns pen. It just feels like I’m breaking up a friendship sometimes…

Yes. I had a bunny who loved to play with my dog. Also slept together. It was not only cute but super handy because I could leave them in the garden together knowing the dog would protect her if a cat or something came in. They were best friends. If you trust your dog you could try some supervised sessions together with the dog on a leash and then go from there.
Then again, my dog was really gentle and although the bunny played with him, he didn’t play with her in the sense of jumping around. He enjoyed her zoomies around him and followed her around, but none of the actual excited dog playing behavior. If your dog is very wild when playing and ‘slappy’ with its paws, maybe you should be careful. A rabbits back is easily injured.

Cute! Off subject but have been desperately looking for a bigger space for my bun. Can you tell me how you accomplished this?

I love how your bun seems to offer doggo a toy at one point. They seem very playful with one another. So very cute!

beautiful pup and bun! there aren’t any signs that the bun is stressed, so yeah I think they’re just trying to play. i would recommend supervised playing or having the dog on a leash (more safe, and you mentioned you do that already)!

Your rabbit could just be being territorial. I think playing would just be too dangerous.

It does look like they’re playing. The buns tail being pinned up is a sign of being aggressive or defensive, but otherwise this looks friendly. Based on the history, it seems possible they could get along.
