Press Release
Blighter’s world-leading electronic scanning array surveillance radars are optimised to detect threats on land, along coastlines and in the low-altitude airspace to protect critical infrastructure sites including airports, energy facilities, water treatment centres, nuclear sites, and offshore plants as well as to provide surveillance of land and sea borders
Blighter will be on stand S-030 in the UK Ministry of Defence Pavilion at Milipol Qatar, taking place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, West Bay, Doha from 20 to 22 October 2026.
CAMBRIDGE, UK – Detecting people, vehicles and small vessels approaching borders and critical infrastructure will be the focus of Blighter’s presence at Milipol Qatar 2026. Exhibiting as part of the UK Ministry of Defence Pavilion, the British radar manufacturer will highlight how persistent ground and surface surveillance can provide earlier warning of potential threats around borders, energy facilities, airports, ports, and other strategically important sites.
For sites with extensive perimeters, remote approaches or access from the water, security teams need visibility beyond the fence line. Blighter’s electronic-scanning radars detect and track movement across land and coastal approaches, helping security teams identify potentially suspicious activity earlier and coordinate a focused response. Its low-power, solid-state technology supports continuous surveillance, including in the hot, humid, and sandy environments encountered in the Middle East.
Supporting this ground and surface surveillance capability, Blighter also offers unmatched detection of low-flying drones, helping operators address threats approaching through low-altitude airspace. BlighterNexus software brings radar information together to support monitoring and threat assessment and enables integration with cameras and wider security systems to give operators a more coordinated view of activity around a protected site.
Iain Walsh, Blighter’s director of sales, said:
“Protecting critical infrastructure requires a clear picture of activity across the surrounding land and coastal approaches. Our radars help security teams detect people, vehicles, and small vessels earlier, giving them more time to assess potential threats and respond.
“We are keen to build on our recent contract successes in the Middle East and discuss how our ground and surface surveillance capabilities can support customers across the region. Low-flying drone detection and BlighterNexus integration add further capabilities, helping customers build a coordinated surveillance system around their operational requirements.”
Blighter will also be discussing recent enhancements to its BlighterNexus software platform in Qatar. BlighterNexus allows customers and integrators to maximise the advanced capabilities of Blighter electronic scanning radars while eliminating integration complexity. It enables customers to configure, manage and operate a network of radars through one secure and intuitive web-based user interface.
Blighter radars are trusted for border surveillance in the Middle East, by the UK Ministry of Defence for forward operating base (FOB) protection, the South Korean Army for surveillance along the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), by the United States Air Force for drone detection, and by several Five Eyes/NATO customers for deployment on their mobile surveillance and armoured vehicles. A network of Blighter radars paired with BlighterNexus software has also recently been deployed in West Africa to protect offshore oil platforms and onshore refineries from pirates.
