Mid bonding journey with these two. What is this body language?? They’ll alternate between grooming and small spats when together in neutral territory. Their homes are now side by side. I come back to this today. What does it even mean? Make up your damn mind!

I had buns who I never managed to bond, but they loved to cuddle through their bars. They’d try to kill each other if you took away the gates though.
My assumptions was that they understood the gates protected their territory, so they could relax about the existence of the other bun and cuddle a little for companionship.
But the second one became a territorial threat to the other it was game over and their entire dynamic changed lol.

“May our butts touch; though, we never see eye-to-eye.”
I would generally see this as a good sign. As much as rabbit can see behind themselves, they’re far more vulnerable from behind than facing each other. As much as they can turn their butt to you to show displeasure, loafing facing away from each other has an implicit trust that they’re not going to be attacked.
What is the fence you have for them. Thinking of replacing my Berlin Wall (plastic) with some.
))<>((
Back and forth forever
They just got each other’s 6.
Are your buns perchance special forces or Marines?
Fart transplant
Turning their backs like that means they trust each other. If they didnt, theyd be facing each other ready to fight. Its a good sign.
My eldest bun would squish his butt against the fence as a sort of peace offering. When the other bun was in a good mood, she’d snuggle. Otherwise she’d try to nip him XD
They watched Requiem For A Dream while you were out
Bum bum to bum bum. So cute! 🥰
Nobody’s sneaking up on them all right 😁
Stop I thought those were my rabbits before seeing they’re not lop eared 😭😭😭
Sometimes.
Sometimes yes.
Sometimes no.
I had two buns that were like this for two years. Couldn’t have them without the barrier but they’d cuddle side by side with it all day long. One day the problem bun decided he wanted a companion for real and they bonded. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
My buns lived side by side and would regularly flop next to each other as well as mirror each other’s behavior… But as soon as you put them in a neutral space together it was WAR bab~y! They could not stand each other when the fence was down.
