We had to say goodbye to Ralph yesterday.
He was adopted by my partner at 8 years old as his previous owners were emigrating and worried he wouldn’t be able to deal with the stress of the move.
Predictions were he only had another year or two left in him. He lived another 5, and was a constant companion and source of so much love for both myself and my partner, particularly during some challenging times in recent years.
His resilience was unmatched, dealing with surgeries and setbacks over those 5 years but he always bounced back.
During the last few months, he started to show signs of his age, losing some sight and aspects of mobility but he never ever gave up.
This week, we noticed a few worrying changes so visited the vet yesterday at which point they advised us that it was time to say goodbye.
I wanted to share his story as he was such a special character who had so much love to give and enriched our lives so much.
Please feel free to share stories and photos of yours, whether they’re still with us or over the rainbow bridge.
Sleep well, Ralphie.
