Rabbit

stormy’s first GI stasis

we’re finally on our way out of stormy’s first ever GI stasis at ~6 years old (she’s a rescue, so not positive on age).

normally an absolute psycho for food, stormy did not finish all of her pellets thursday morning, and wasn’t interested when prompted. however, she *did* pass the treat test, and she flopped that morning. we just had a bad feeling, so we took her to the vet that morning, and sure enough, she was going into stasis. they said we caught it as early as possible. *biggest lesson: trust yourself that you know your rabbit and what’s unusual for them*

stormy is now finishing her food, though not with as much enthusiasm as normal, so she’s still on meds and some critical care. her personality is also back, which means giving meds is nearly impossible and she tries to murder us each time!

we love her more than the world, so a little bit of murder is allowed as long as the baby is happy and healthy. I’m so relieved to have my evil girl back!

So happy to hear she’s on the other end of stasis! You are right, always trust your gut when their behavior changes.

Great job catching it early! I bet she’ll be back to normal in no time!
