I know that just because he was hopping around and eating earlier doesnt mean he’s out of the woods yet. Right now, he is snuggling his bro and is very sleepy / keeps napping. I’ve never seen him like this before, and while we were told he would be tired for 12-24 hours, I read about how other people’s rabbits are basically back to themselves in the evening. He had surgery at 945am, it lasted a little under an hour, it is now 730pm. And of course, it’s a Saturday, emergency vet is an hour away, and we don’t have a car.
When can I stop worrying? How are other people’s rabbits after surgery with anaesthesia?
I’ll be sleeping in the same room as him tonight. We do have Critical Care on hand – no syringe of course, I’ll have to find one. He starts his Metacam tomorrow when his current pain killers wear off.
If you have any advice for when to worry about lethargy, and an approximate timeline for when I can finally calm down and trust that he is recovering normally?
I am just beside myself. I just want my little guy to be okay.
Thanks! And sorry for the depressing posts. Wish I could just eliminate all diseases in animals. And people for that matter, but especially pure little souls like animals.
