For those in the bunny community who have been following the brush saga of my very dramatic bun, Odin, things have hilariously escalated.
With a pile of arugula set between my feet, I squatted in front of him and ACTUALLY BRUSHED HIM. Got his bum brushed (only one pass, it clearly needs at least two more) and most of his back and then the worst thing happened…
he finished the arugula.
The next swipe of the brush set all the chaos into motion.
I swiped the brush down his back, activating his spring setting and he launched forward. The problem? I was wearing a maxi skirt and an oversized tshirt (laundry day attire). The skirt semi-blocked the path between my feet so he took off… UP MY SHIRT.
Have you ever had a panicking bunny TRAPPED INSIDE YOUR SHIRT? Pandemonium ensued. I was trying to remain calm as his little talons scratched my bare chest, he was trying to escape, I was trying to figure out how to plop him out without hurting him. Finally I just… laid down on the ground and pulled my shirt away and he hopped out.
He’s completely fine. Resumed life business as usual… my chest and stomach not so much 😅😂
The plans to tackle nail trimming next have been cancelled. I will just take him to the vet. 😅

I always have to bribe my fluffy companions with pellets to brush them. As for the nail trimming – I resorted to making bunnitos and taking care of one paw out at a time. Otherwise, the bunny is an angry floofball.
He looks really mad at you. I wouldn’t want to be you. LOL.

Trimming nails can be easy I recommend using a long sleeved shirt that has tight enough sleeves like a thermal underwear type of shirt and feeding the bun through the sleeve then putting their head and one arm at a time through the hand hole to trim the nails for the feet you’ll have to pull the foot out the other end by scrunching up the shirt enough so that their feet are exposed. This works best using someone else to hold the patient while you trim and also using this trimmer

Also if you cut the quick get some hemostat powder or at least cornstarch to help clot the blood more quickly. I have 2 buns both are difficult to trim one is intersex and has extreme hormonal shifts and is virtually impossible to trim his nails but we get it done with this method.
Also this method works best with another person like I said and it works best if the helper holds the bun agaisnt their chest tightly with the head of the patient on their shoulder and switching to the other shoulder to trim the opposite foot/ leggy. The hind legs and the thumb nail are the most difficult here. Also give them treats between nail clips and it goes more smoothly. Banana or blooburries ftw.
