Hi everyone!
I have 2 bunnies I rescued about 6 months apart, and bonded last year. My girl bunny Cece (3) and boy bunny George (2) have been bonded now and living with me for about a year together.
In October, my boyfriend moved in with us. And in November we got new upstairs neighbours that are louder then our previous ones. Since then, my bunnies have had a big step back in behaviour. They are more skittish and territorial (pooping everywhere, more pee accidents, spooking easier and hiding most of the day, no longer coming out to see what we are doing or relaxing near us.) My vet is not concerned about them physically. Just said it’s behaviour regression from changes.
I did some research, and moved them into our office temporarily to give them a ‘home base.’ From my research it said to let them live there at least a month before letting them free roam again. It’s been a few days and it’s tough! But they do seem a bit calmer having their own quiet space (previously their space was in the living room- just an open pen to come and go) and they are asking for pets etc. from myself and my boyfriend while we are in there. I’m just having a tough time with this, I feel like I should have done it sooner/ or differently. I feel like a bad bunny mom.
I wanted to see if anyone else has done this and if it has worked? Does anyone have any advice for moving them gradually back into the rest of our space? Or a timeline/ what I should watch for positive signs it’s time to expand their space?
