I have been crying for 3 days and I’ve decided that all I can do is to maybe to remind everyone – If you’re free roaming your bunny PLEASE do not leave front loading laundry washer/dryers open.
I accidentally offed him when doing the laundry. I decided to hang up some of the stuff that had been washed and dry the rest in the machine and he explored the inside while my back was turned, it couldn’t be more than a minute. I didn’t notice and closed the door (which is also dark). He went through a 1.5 hour dryer cycle. It couldn’t be minute the door was open. He had a very painful and traumatic death and he wasn’t even a year old.
I know this is my fault and the guilt is killing ms. But he’d probably still be alive if I had not free roamed him and I caged only let him out occasionally 100% unsupervised.
Now I have mixed feelings about free roaming bunnies now. I will never get another bunny. I just want to remind everyone that you might not always see the dangers to the bunny, and please don’t let your bunnies near the laundry.

oh my god😟
I’m so sorry you are going through this and so sorry for your bunny. It’s horrible. Please don’t think that it is your fault for free-roaming. This same situation could’ve happened with a cat. It’s just really bad luck. 💔
That is fucking intense. I am truly sorry. I’ve made really bad mistakes with animals before too — it is so important to learn from them and do everything possible to NEVER repeat them, even if it means not getting that type of animal again. I can’t imagine the mental pain of knowing your mistake caused this though. I hope everyone reading this triple checks on their buns because this is the stuff of nightmares for me personally.
I’m so so sorry about your bun but please please get help if you need it. This is a huge burden to carry all by yourself.
