I came home from work and noticed my 9week old bun has a fingernail sized scab on the side of his body by his ribs! I have no idea how he got it but I think I have an idea.
i also have a 11mo old bun who’s getting fixed in 3weeks, i have NOT tried bonding my buns since they both aren’t fixed and one is still a baby, i have scent swapped a bit though and they know both live in my room in separate cages so they are aware of each other. they take turns free roaming.
I have my baby buns pen area guarded by plastic panels, and lots of other things in my room, it’s a 4 way barrier pretty much, I thought it was enough and anytime i let either of my buns free roam i supervise. i made the mistake of going to the bathroom while my baby bun was in his pen and my older bun was free roaming (my bathroom is literally just right across my room and it was quick), when i came back my older bun was in my baby buns pen, i immediately got her out, i did notice that my baby bun was kind of hiding but not well hidden and my older bun was no where near him and eating his food. i thought he was fine since it seemed like my older bun didn’t even notice him and was so focused on my older bun figuring a way in his pen that i didn’t even fully check him to make sure he was okay, i just petted him and rushed to get ready for work and put the other bunny up. I re-guarded my baby buns pen and double made sure my other bunny won’t be able to get in anymore, i even let her test it to make sure.
anyways I just came home from work and when i picked up my baby bun i noticed the scab on him, it’s pretty much scabbed over, he ate a carrot my parents gave him, and he doesn’t seem bothered or hurt when i touch his scab. What should i do? do i need to put ointment on it? a warm cloth? clean it? do i need to take jim to an emergency vet? i feel so bad and im so worried!
