driving home last night I spotted this tiny dude hopping into my neighbor's yard. I immediately pulled over, grabbed a thin blanket-scarf and tried to gently scoop the bunny. this one started to come up to me, changed its mind and hopped away – zero fear, no rush. luckily, another neighbor saw me, and helped slowly corner the bunny under a bush (again, this baby had no fear 😅). I basically crawled under the bush and dove to catch the bunny as it jumped. immediately covered the bunny in the scarf to help calm/secure it. two more neighbors stopped and one gave me a guinea pig cage for transport (he'd seen the bunny earlier and bought a cage at Petco). it was a neighborhood effort! this bun is in a small kennel right now, but I'll have a bigger setup when I get home today.
I was in rabbit 4h, and have friends who've had house rabbits, so this one is in good hands. we're going to check with our neighbors today and see if anyone is missing a bunny, otherwise I might be able to convince my partner we should keep this one 😅. genuinely the friendliest, calmest bun I've ever met. not sure of the age, I think juvenile based on size and fur. flopped over, passed out is how I found it this morning, super chill. perked up when I refilled the hay before work, but doesn't flinch and likes forehead rubs.
