We’ve had Beans (gray) for almost a year, and we decided to get her a boyfriend, Beef (black).
We rescued him and he was already neutered so that saved some time.
But i’m shocked with how well it’s going, I think we got really lucky. Beef currently has a cage in Beans room (she’s free roam).
We just made them meet in the bathroom since there were no signs of aggression with him in the cage.
There was no fighting, a tiny bit of mounting, but other than that they ate their hay, treats. They cleaned eachother and flopped next to eachother. Not a single sign of aggression.
Just wanted to share my experience and how lucky we got with this bonding experience.
We plan on keeping Beef in his cage for another week or so, and having them meet in neutral spaces 1-2 times a day. Then we’re going to let them both out in their shared room for a bit, then from there we’ll take it day by day! I have a bunch of videos of their first time meeting and grooming if people want to see!
