Bunny

Do you wipe the sleep from your bunnies’ eyes?

Every day I wipe the dried sleep from my little darling's eyes.

In this case, I meant the gunk from their eyes lol

  2. I tell them, “I’m going to clean your peepers,” and they loaf into position for me. Can’t leave them with eye buggers 🥰

  3. AnonPinkLady

Yes I do and he doesn’t seem to mind it either, treats it like ordinary grooming

I do. I do it when I give her head rubs. I read when my bunny’s sister died and I wanted to help her with grieving that rubbing your finger gently over their eye (obviously closed) mimics what bunnies do to clean their friend. My bunny seems to enjoy it.

I try to but then he just does it himself like I’m not doing it right.

  6. ItsDoomBunny

Absolutely. My boy only has one eye left so it’s gotta stay clear.

  7. mishpishhh

i try to but they act like i am trying to stab their eyeballs out 🤣

  8. autumnsviolins

Yeah I do, thats the only act of grooming theyll stay still for

  9. I do. I have a girl with chronic weepy eye. She’s a rescue and she had scar on her eyelid above which happens to be where it’s gets runny at times. She lets me clean it off and loves it as that’s our grooming time.

  10. Curious to ask how you all go about it to clean their eye gunk?

  11. MrGaryLapidary

With a clean warm damp cloth. He likes it.

I groom his face with a soft bristle toothbrush and with gently go over his eyes as he closes them.

He loves when I brush his cheeks with the brush or behind his ears. And under his chin. In general, he loves when I use the toothbrush.

Seems to hurt my bunny’s eyes when I wipe it. But apparentlyyyy there’s nothing wrong with her…

  14. kpsoldier28

Just very gently as you can scratch the corner of their eye which can cause bleeding, but surely we all do, unless they have a bonded pair who does it for them 🥰

  15. Iambic_420

Yeah I do. I know it would bother me to constantly have it there and not be able to get it out so I remove it. My rabbit does not seem to mind at all. My dog minds a lot.

If he let’s me. My boy is a “look, don’t touch” beastie from the streets.

Sometimes their tear ducts can get clogged. I received some special eye drops from my vet and was taught how to do very gentle daily eye duct rubs. Seems to really help. My baby doesn’t rub here eyes as much and looks more calm and relaxed.

If I tried to touch my bunny’s face, she’d bolt. But, I’ve never actually seen any eye crust on her.

  19. CommodoreDragon-64

It’s bunny for “I love you” to do so.

  20. Chocodila

I do every single day. My bun usually has eye crusties and not eye boogers. I just gently pick them off with my fingers. He actually loves it and lets me do it, he thinks it’s part of regular grooming.

  21. LanaDelStan_947

I call them eye boogies lol, but yes

  22. RealBug56

I start sticking my fingers in his eyes the moment I see him in the morning lol

He loves it, I bet it feels really good to them

  23. Karla_Darktiger

I’ve never had to. My pair clean each others eyes a lot and I’ve never seen any sleep there

  24. North_Manager_8220

Yes haha If it bothers my eyes, I assume it bothers their eye’s too

  25. Give_me_your_bunnies

I do! I think it shows them I love them 😆

  26. kai_liente

Yea, every morning whether they need it or not. Daily inspection, my buns just put up with me now 🤣

  27. Square_Opportunity21

I sure do. She sits very still when I clean her eyes. I think she enjoys it as much as I do!

  28. Sad-Consideration103

Every animal I have ever had gets any gunk removed from the eyes immediately when I spy it always.

  29. Specialist_Ad_2984

yes and it is so satisfying 😭😭 Carl knows it’s about to happen because I say “let mommy get them eye boogies!! 🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻”

  30. LisaFromAccounting

Yup! Or just eye boogies in general after she’s done shoving her entire head in the hay feeder

  31. IvyBloodroot

I remove them for my bun, my bun removes them for me sometimes.
Its lovely waking up, opening your eyes and seeing a lil toungue coming up to your eye :’)
Or waking up cuz somebunny puts its paws on your head to clean your eyes, forehead, hair, nose.
