intervertebral degenerative disc disease?

I rescued my new bun a little under 2 months ago now from an urgent rehoming situation. On Wednesday night, she starting limping out of seemingly nowhere, keeping one of her feet close to her and literally hasn’t put that foot back on the ground to hop since. I took her to an exotic vet as soon as I could, and after a lot of back and forth and several hundreds dollars worth of X-rays, she was diagnosed with intervertebral degenerative disc disease. The vet told me that it looked like it may have been caused or exacerbated by a hip fracture that he guessed occurred a decently long time ago and didn’t heal properly since there was a lot of calcification in the area. He told me that we would have to manage symptoms going forward, and today gave her pain meds and a shot of adequan. He talked about the possibility of monthly or weekly shots and/or oral medications going forward. I’m supposed to have her on “cage rest” this week and we have a follow up next week.

I just feel really awful. The previous owner didn’t disclose any previous injuries or health conditions to me, and in all fairness she may not have known. I just hope I didn’t do something to hurt her. Has anyone else gone through this with their rabbit and have any advice? She is only 2 and 1/2, so I’m hoping she can have plenty more happy, pain free years, but I’m not sure if that’s possible? I feel a little confused about prognosis and sad.
