Can I get rid of the second cage?

I got Genevieve two months ago. My nephew begged his parents to let me take her, as he realised, bunnies weren't supposed to be in cages all their life. She's about two years old. I got her checked at the vet and neutered. Almost immediately she stopped pooping everywhere or being agressive towards my other bunny King Arthur. When I got her, they also brought her cage. But they're always using the same cage now for pooping/pissing eating and drinking water. They will sometimes use the other cage, but mostly it's just one of them. When they jump into their cage they'll eat from the same bowl and drink from the same water dispenser. So i thought it might be better to just get rid of one cage and but the extra bowl and dispenser in the same cage.

They look so cute together; same coloring, different fur.

If you can trust them together for 24 hours – getting rid of the second cage should be fine!

They look very happy. Try taking the second cage down and see if they notice. If they protest, put it back up.

I just want to say that’s very moving that your nephew advocated for his bun to go to a better home. I hope he can still visit and give Miss Genevieve some nice pets every so often ❤️

When dealing with rabbits I always suggest you take it nice and slow. Remove the cage and then see how it goes.

One thing I will say is this: donate the cage to a rescue. I know there’s a local rabbit rescue that also deals with guinea pigs and chinchillas. And they’d use the cages for the smaller animals. So check your local rabbit/piggies/chinchilla rescues and ask if they’d like the cage. It’s a win win.
