Bunny

I need help, litter habits (bunny isn’t neutered)

I'm aware that for female rabbits, spaying is almost necessary, because it significantly reduces the risk of cancer, but I haven't found any data that says that the same is true for neutering a male rabbit (and that the risk of cancer for them is higher than the risk that comes with general anesthesia). I consulted an exotic vet and she said that neutering a male rabbit isn't a "medical necessity".

I know that neutering my rabbit would probably solve most of my problems, but I'm not willing to risk his life just because it's exhausting to clean after him.

All this being said, I really need some help, because the situation is getting out of hand. He keeps pooping on the floor. I somehow managed to train him to start using his toilet for peeing, but when it comes to pooping, nothing really works. I tried picking up his poops and putting them in his litterbox, but it had no effect.

Is there anything else I can try to at least improve his litter habits? I know that it will never be 100%, but any improvement would be great.

He's about one year old. Prior to me adopting him (about 2 months ago), he was mainly living in a cage. Now he roams the hallway and the kitchen (it's a pretty small apartment, so this is a big portion of the whole apartment).

Any tip would be greatly appreciated.
