My 5.5-year-old rabbit Apple wants to eat hay but can’t chew it. He bites the strands, tries to chew the soft parts, then drops them. Critical Care is fine; energy is normal. Vet suspects mild molar issues, so I scheduled dental X-rays on Nov 26.
My biggest concern: Apple’s liver enzymes (ALT/ALP) are high, and he has been on liver support meds for months.
I know anesthesia is processed by the liver, and he has never been anesthetized before. I’m extremely worried about the safety of anesthesia for him.He is really important to me, and I am afraid of losing him because of anesthesia.
Has anyone had a rabbit with dental problems + high liver enzymes undergo anesthesia safely?
Any advice or similar experiences would help me a lot. Thank you.😭
