hey all! my baby boy has had two seemingly random episodes of gut stasis recently, one unidentified and one gas-related. got him checked out and followed vet's advice and he's back to his usual self now, but i'm starting to wonder if his lucerne hay is contributing to severe gas?
he gets 4 types of hay daily: oaten, pasture, lucerne and meadow. i have begun only giving him a tiny bit of lucerne in his mix, but he also jumps up onto the bag to eat straight from it. at first i didn't mind because i thought it was good exercise, but now i'm thinking it could be causing gas?
he's pretty good with eating almost all of his other hays between refill times, and i also give him a daily salad mix of baby spinach leaf, rocket/arugula and cress lettuce, and i also try to feed him grass or clover daily. he has a tablespoon of pellets split into two servings daily. can any experienced bun parents find anything that may be causing problems in his diet? much appreciated ♡
