Cute Bunnies… at the Department Store!

Rabbits are typically sold in specialty pet stores in Tokyo, but recently a major department store, TOKYU HANDS, started to carry a selection of rabbits! This video captures two beautiful Netherland Dwarf rabbits (the sign says they are Lionheads, but it was likely misplaced), being sold for 30,000 yen, which is equivalent to around $250 USD. This is much more expensive than what rabbits are sold for at a local pet store in the US, which is around $50. However, the quality and care given to these bunnies is at a higher bar than what is typically seen.

Located in Shibuya, Tokyo, TOKYU HANDS deals with all kinds of products, such as livingware, fancy made-in-Japan bags, convenient travel goods, the latest Japanese stationery, unique articles, topical beauty products, and tools and materials for DIY. It has also started to carry pets such as hamsters and rabbits!
