My dear Artist Friends,
I feel it a great pleasure to come before you With a bunch of pictures for your practice with pastel colours. I shall try my level best to teach you the methods in the easiest way.
First try to colour the blank pictures, kéeping an eye on the blank pictures ,keeping an eye on the painted one .then draw the same composition on separate paper keeping the same in front of you.
At last keep aside this book and try to draw and paint the composition from your memory. Now, compare I am sure, you will improve very quickly.
For pastel colours, start from light or shades and that too by mixing two different colours. For examples in a picture where top portion is yellow and bottom portion in green; rub yellow stick first, then rub the green stick. Then, again rub the yellow stick very softly at the junction of two colours and you will find the mixing of colours as well as the picture is completed. For painting of sky try deep blue softly.
Then rub the white stick over the blue surface. Thus you will get smooth blue colour of the sky.
Light and shade is an important property of such painting. From light and shade,we understand the distance of the object.so the tree at far off place will be of light colour and without details,but a tree at near place must be painted in grèat details of every leaf and in deep colour. we understand the distance of the object. If you feel the pastel stick tittle too thick, you may switch over to glass marking pencil to have black shade.
